Whether you are traveling by car, bus, or train, sitting down for many hours is a good excuse to take care of yourself, especially your skin.
These skincare essentials are in my road kit and have saved me on many different occasions. Add them to your skincare kit the next time you go on a road trip.
Travel Skincare Essentials
1. Hand cream is another very important thing to bring with you on a road trip. Hand cream always comes in handy, pun intended. L’Occitane is one of my all-time favorite hand creams, and the Cherry Blossom one is in my top 5 from L’Occitane. It has such a light, lovely scent and has a very creamy texture. It leaves my hands feeling like baby skin.
2. This thermal water mist feels amazing on your skin! It refreshes your skin, wakes it up (wakes you up too) and helps make sure that your skin doesn’t dry up while you’re locked up in the car.
Pro tip: if you have a cooler with you in the car, put the Avene canister inside, trust me it will feel like you just took a cold shower.
3. Caudalie Beauty Elixir is seriously a spa in a bottle. And for those road trips that get hot or are just draining, this face mist is a must. It will instantly freshen and awaken my skin. The scent is divine and makes me feel so luxurious and classy. It’s very much a pampering moment, even in the car, in the middle of nowhere. I especially recommend keeping it inside your fridge the night before your trip.
Pro tip: if you have a cooler with you in the car, put the bottle there, it makes the whole experience extra wonderful.
4. You might be sitting down the whole time but when sun hits straight at you for hours, some body odors can start to cripple. Don’t forget to bring deodorant with you.
5. I don’t know about you, but my lips get very dry with the air-conditioner or heater on. So, on a road trip (at any time of the year) I need something to protect my dry lips. Aquaphor is my favorite because it’s very effective, super inexpensive, you can find it anywhere, and you can even use it for other parts of the body.
6. Sunscreen, as you know, needs to be reapplied throughout the day. If you are wearing makeup and don’t want to mess it up, then the Colorescience Sunforgettable brush is the perfect option for you. Just take it out and apply it as if you were setting up your makeup.
7. Baby wipes are a great cheap way to clean your hands on the road. Since they are made for babies, they do not irritate the skin. The Pampers aqua are Hypoallergenic and Unscented. They will clean your hands from any food you eat and they won’t leave a lingering smell.
8. Road trips equal sun! So don’t forget to put on sunscreen in all the areas that will be exposed! The Hawaiian Tropic Silk Sensation I like because it’s non-greasy, and the last thing you want is to feel greasy while sitting down in the car. Take it with you and reapply throughout the day.
9. The La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra-light is one of my favorite facial sunscreens since its very light and easy to apply all over my face.
