Travel Charger & Portable battery
I remember my first day in Japan, it was such a beautiful country and I was so excited to be there. Unfortunately, by noon my phone had died from all the pictures I was taking. My first day there and I was stuck searching for a portable charger, all day, instead of taking pictures of all the beautiful things I was seeing! Carrying a travel charger or portable battery charger with you is a must when traveling.
Steamer
I have so many clothes that get wrinkled easily and I don’t like ironing! I just don’t! So instead of using the iron in the hotel room and setting up everything, I just fill up this baby with water, plug it in, and I can steam all the things I want. Winkle free in minutes! Besides it’s very compact and fits perfectly in the suitcase.
Packing cubes
Packing cubes will change the way you pack… forever! Everything is more organized and fits better because of the cubes. They are great for separating underwear and delicate materials that are easily damaged by loose shoes or sharp zippers on open jackets. They are definitely worth the try.
Portable Digital Luggage Scale
I definitely recommend you have a way to measure your suitcase weight. This particular one is very cheap, very compact and you can take it with you on your trip to make sure you didn’t buy too much! This has saved me for the last 5 years every time I travel, and the only time I forgot to pack it with me I ended up paying for it when I checked in for my return flight! Even though my bag wasn’t over weight on the way there, on the return trip my bag was just a little too heavy because of the shopping I had done.
Weekender Bag
A pretty, sturdy bag like this one is always a must to have as a carry-on. I use one as my purse for flights. Since more things fit inside, I can take all my flight essentials with me (phone charger, tablet, medicine kit, scarf, etc.). Also, following up with the luggage scale, if you need to take a few things out of your suitcase, there’s a good chance it’ll fit in your carry-on bag. Whatever it takes to avoid paying overweight fees, right?
Portable Refillable Perfume
I’ve had one of these in my everyday handbag for the last 7 years. It is very easy to use, you just remove the spritz part from your favorite perfume, insert the stem on the refiller, and you pump until its full.
Mine has lasted all these years and I always take it with me on trips, full of my favorite perfume. It’s also simple to use it at night, in case I don’t have time to go back to the hotel and change for dinner. You can always arrive smelling delicious, even after a full day of walking around a city.
Jewelry organizer
I love jewelry; I have a passion for jewelry. Whenever I travel I definitely take too many pieces with me. One cannot simply plan ahead on which earrings or necklace will be worn with which outfit; and for years I would put all those pieces in a pretty pouch where everything would get tangled.
My mother-in-law then gave me a jewelry organizer with a place for each thing and I am so grateful for it. No more mess and everything in a pretty pouch.
Pill Organizer
I always have my pill kit full wherever I go. Instead of using the days of the week like the box says, I just separate by type of pill. I take pills for headaches, cramps, stomachache, and vitamins. There’s nothing worse than looking for a pharmacy in the middle of your trip instead of just reaching to your bag and getting the pill you know will help, especially if you are in a country with a different language.
Always travel with all the medicine you think you might need, but also be careful not to bring something banned or illegal to the country you visit. For instance pseudoephedrine is banned in Japan & Mexico, so do your research before you travel.
